About the Podcast Creator:
Hey (: I hope your day is flowing gently. If you’ve never stumbled across me before, pleasure to meet you, I’m Kyarra Keele!
I'm an author and mental health activist for marginalized communities (centering people of color, lgbt+ and low-income individuals), with a background in finance. I've poured my heart & soul into creating this podcast since 2019 to do my part in educating, empowering, & uplifting my community through cozy & compassionate mental health content. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Finance and my Bachelor's degree in Spanish Studies from Santa Clara University.
Update 2022: The Noggin Podcast is ending & transitioning soon to launch a new activism podcast challenging us to "compost" outdated mental health care, explore new seeds for mental health and financial growth, & sprout change in marginalized communities.
Context of my writing & creative work:
I accomplished my goal of publishing my first book by age 11, and became a four-time published author by age 16. Now I'm currently writing an interview-based mental health activism book that will highlight marginalized mental health experiences of older generations and archive their stories through an immersive, multi-sensory experience (To be released in 2022).
I'm also a proud member of Support A Living Artist Collective (SLAC), a Brooklyn-based creative studio and audiovisual production space run by 5 women of color artists. We are dedicated to bringing together and supporting the art community through curated events/shows, educational workshops & resource sharing on social media to address the racial disparities within the art world.
About The Noggin Podcast:
On this podcast we cultivate a gentle, cozy space advocating for diverse mental health dialogue in the community for people of color, educating about marginalized mental illnesses, and sharing empowering resources for mental health recovery, with a sprinkling of zest. So, if that's what you’re looking for, welcome home! If you want to support my compassionate mental health advocacy: https://www.patreon.com/TheNogginPodcast
